Tamworth MP Sarah Edwards Visits the Historic Thorpe Estate
Thorpe Estate recently welcomed a special guest as Sarah Edwards, MP for Tamworth, stopped by to explore our historic yet forward-thinking enterprise.
Located in rural Staffordshire, and just a ten minute drive from Tamworth, the estate is a prime example of how traditional land ownership can evolve to meet the needs of a modern economy. During her visit, Edwards met with our Director Tristan Lillingston, whose family has steered the estate for nearly four centuries.
Sharing her experience on social media, Edwards highlighted the connection between the estate and the constituency she represents:
"I recently visited Thorpe Estate and met with Tristan Lillingston, whose family has been rooted here since 1631 - with one of his ancestors even serving as a former MP for Tamworth!
Today, Thorpe Estate is a brilliant example of rural enterprise: home to a working farm, a stunning wedding venue, and office space for local businesses and agencies, all of which is powered by on-site renewable energy.
A fascinating part of Tamworth's local heritage, proudly adapting for the future."
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to show Sarah Edwards how Thorpe Estate has evolved, and how rural businesses can innovate, provide jobs, and champion sustainability while honouring their heritage.
