We're Hiring: Grounds Maintenance Operative
We are looking for a highly motivated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join the team at Thorpe Estate, reporting to the Facilities Manager.
Core responsibilities include:
Mowing, strimming & edging lawns
Trimming and pruning hedges, shrubs and trees
Weed control, basic gardening (tree planting etc)
Leaf and debris clearance
Maintenance of pathways and roadways, including during winter months (grit spreading etc)
Outdoor furniture repairs & maintenance
Painting to exterior fences, gates, doors, windows etc.
Drainage & gutter clearance
Working at heights
Log splitting, woodchipping
Additional tasks will involve basic maintenance jobs on estate properties, and daily and weekly checks for hazards, alarms etc
Key attributes required:
You will be highly motivated and physically able to work outdoors, and take pride in the upkeep of the grounds of a historic Estate. You will have experience in gardening, landscaping and using garden machinery & tools. Certificates for the use of chainsaws and other machinery is desired.
You will share our values and a passion to deliver exceptional service for the benefit of the 12,000+ annual visitors to Thorpe. You will be eager to work with a wider team and to minimise disturbance to other tenants on the Estate. The role requires a highly organised and computer-literate individual who is able to navigate spreadsheets and online calendars. You will be part of a diverse, Estate-wide team and report directly to the Facilities Manager.
Due to our rural location, you will have means of transport to and from Thorpe Estate.
Job spec and benefits:
Full time, Tuesday to Saturday, minimum of 40 hours per week typically between 8am - 4pm. All tools, equipment & uniform will be provided. Salary depends on experience.
